Default Stiff Clutch

Have just bought a 1999 1.8 Merdian 306 and have realised that it has a very very stiff clutch pedal...just wondering if this is a common problem or a fault with the 306's?

Any help will be greatly appreciated...

Many thanks

Steven

The 306 D Turbo i had a few years back had the same problem
so i replaced the 3 part clutch and greased the main shaft that
runs through the clutch plate with copper slip and seamed to
sort mine out

+1 to greasing the linkages but they are very stiff.
