Default Quick MAF Sensor Question

Could someone refresh my memory on this:

If the car is running sluggish, you disconnect the cable to the MAF sensor and it runs better, then its the MAF sensor at fault?

Cheers! Gave it a blast with carb cleaner, and did the air intake sensor and manifold pressure sensor at the same time and it sorted things out.
