Default Peugeot Planet - PC/Laptop Kit?

Can I get some sort of laptop based diagnostics kit (like Peugeot Planet) for my 307? If so:

1) what should I look for?
2) where?
3) how much?

I am currently battling a problem with my 53-plate 307 SW 2.0HDi 100 SE estate car that I bought recently from a mate (last week, birmingham). His wife had only ever used it for the local school runs (10k over 4 years). But when I got it on the motorway as soon as I reached about 50+ MPH the dreadded antipollution message popped up along with a ECU light. The car has been on limp mode every since - its SO frustrating!

Tonight I tried getting the local expert to run a cleaning program on the DPF but that didnt help, just gave me about 15 mins of unrestricted driving before it went back into limp mode. Now I have to goto the dealers and get the additive topped back up (hopefully they will reset the metres for the tank as well?).

Default is it worth buying?

What are these kits like to use? Pretty straightforward or a bit tricky?

I am wondering if its worth buying the kit - just so I know exactly what's wrong with my car? Rather than get a mechanic/specialist to replace the particle filter... only for that dreadded antipollution fault and ECU light to reappear.

PP is fairly straightforward to use, so long as you remember one word of advice.... don't go changing anything unless you a) you know what you're doing, and b) you really need to! Too many problems can arise by 'playing' with things

I have had PP2000 for about a month now , it can be difficult to install . one needs to do everything exactly right , which in my case was a problem. easy to use once going . but the message info it gives you is only a pointer , the solution could be electrical, vacuum or something mechanical , like a loose connection. for example I have the fault "Turbo pressure measured to high" .
and am still trying to find what it is. I found leaking Electrovalve (vac) replaced that still not fixed then I found 3 leaks in the intercooler piping fixed these and still the error . But its fun I'm really enjoying it , getting to understand how everything works and be able to help others . I'm not knocking PP2000 it has been very helpful in fact I would be lost completely without it , I have noticed that some of the faults you can get further info using the F9 key which does point you to closer to the real device that has failed. Good luck if you choose to.

Default Tempting

Its tempting, but it depends what I can do within my limited ability. If I can pick it up relativley easily I might still go for it. Otherwise I think I'll give it a pass... unless I can pickup a used one on eBay.

I guess its probably wiser just to go to someone who has the PP2000 kit and could do the diagnosis for me.

You'll be lucky finding a used one on ebay, and even the ones that do come up will sell for almost the same price as new. Software is freely available over the net, all your paying for is the cable, and the cheapest way to get that is through the link Betty posted above
