So I posted earlier about a dodgy stereo on a recently purchased 2003 plate 206 1.1 LX. Having just been sat in very slow moving traffic for about 30 minutes the temp gauge shot up from 70deg to around 95-100deg, with no fan or any other warning lights coming on, or any warm or worrying smells coming from the engine. As soon as i got onto clearer roads and picked up speed it moved back down to 70deg (within 30seconds), which struck me as odd. None of the 5 car's i've owned have ever let an engine get that high without firing up the fan so this concerns me slightly. Or that dropped temp so rapidly...
Any ideas as to whether this is a problem with the coolant system or just a dodgy temp sensor? All coolant levels seem fine when the engine is cold and don't rise dramatically when hot. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated. |

mine goes up and down depending on the hill....mind you after the car has been sat all night it still reads 75 degrees celcius...could be a glitch in the software, could be a thermostat issue (doubt) and it could also be a temp probe (more than likely)
anyways there was a few threads regarding this but i never got round to reading what the fix was...will dig it up
