Default HELP ME PLEASE!!! 02' 307 hdi dturbo - anti pollution fault

Hello Everyone, New to the forum!

02' 307 hdi dturbo - anti pollution fault

Bought this as my 1st car, a decent car in many respects but been nothing but hassle with this AP fault of late. Had an intermittent AP light for around 2 weeks, although would suddenly snap out of it & run smoothly, so didnt really rush to give peugeot the £75.

Finally went into peugeot today for diagnostics after days of stress trying to get about in it, the shed needs...

Additive 3l
fuel cap sensor
air flow meter
forced regen

The punchline to the joke being the £768 peugeot want for this work, which im in no position to be paying...As its already cost me a fortune with other work in the 5 months ive had it.

Just wondering if anyone has any advice / recommendations on how to sort this for a more sensible fee (im based in cumbria if there's any specialists within sensible traveling distance).

Ive spoke to a guy locally who says he can eliminate the fap filter using software at the cost of £80, but id have to get the filter phisically removed elsewhere & replaced with straight standard pipe. Is it as easy as that? Then no more AP lights & no power loss...or is there more to this procedure than he's letting on?

Any advice is greatly appreciated, as this french shed of a car will be going in the solway at this rate!

For the list of parts you've listed there, Peugeot must be charging absolute top dollar to quote £768 for the work.

You could buy the parts yourself, albeit OE or ebay, and do all the work yourself, then get someone on here with Planet to hook up the laptop and tell the car the additive has been done. The air flow meter is as simple as unplug the old, and plug in the new... likewise with the fuel cap sensor

Forced regen, you can do that yourself by giving it a good run on the motorway - keep the revs up for 20 mins and it should do it anyway

It really amazes me what some Peugeot dealers want to charge for the work.... my local dealer is sooo much cheaper than most it seems

Hi, Thanks for your speedy reply.

Yes i agree its daylight robbery, the look on my face when the lad said "the work is going to be £768.82p, that includes the VAT (reassuring lol) would you like to go ahead?" needless to say i didnt need to phone a friend on that one, stone wall NO!

I should of added...Im not really mechanically savvy car wise...so would much prefer someone in the know to sort it.

I like the sound of removing the filter (software & physical), just wondering if anyone has already took that step, how does it run now & anything i should be aware of?

Yes there are guys on here who have had the filter removed, deleted from software, and a power re-map
One word of advice/caution.... if you do go this route, make sure you use a decent mapper - there have been quite a few tales on here with people having problems after being mapped by places that don't really know what they are doing.

Spot on, i'll tread with caution if i do go down that route.. although the guy in question seems to be well qualified for the job. Working for several large manufacturers as a technician before setting up this business.

Ive had a quick scout about, found 4.5l of the fluid needed, £90 delivered say £100 with the filling kit. Air flow sensor for £30, fuel sensor £30, regen free if i could get that to work as you advised. Already making far more sense than that crazy figure the frenchmen quoted. Then it would just be finding someone local (ish) with peugeot planet to confirm top up.

Thats a bit cheap if it is the MAF (mass air flow) meter that goes after the air filter.... they normally £100 or more - the cheap ones off ebay don't get very good reviews on here

if the people who have had a 307 done, as in de-fap'd, could get in touch with where they had there's done, cost involved etc that would be fantastic.

power remap sounds good too..i know there is more power to be had out of that engine once the ball & chain is removed

Default DPF issue as well

I am pretty much in the same situation. Being running round since the garages opened, trying to get my 53 plate 307 SW 2.0HDI SE 110 sorted.

Tried all sorts from resetting the light/message to flushing the DPF. It went off for about 15 mins then came back on. Now I need the additive refilling and still have the problem.

I just want someone who can do the job and be finished with it... but as most people are saying about the 307, its probably going to be one thing after the other. I guess the real question is, when do you draw the line and sell it (for a loss of course)?

You mention no codes that were in the ecu?
Was there a diagnostic check done?
