Just taken delivery of new Bipper Tepee with 1.4 HDi engine, 4 days old with 163 miles on it the Emission Control System warning light came one leaving supermarket, I stopped read manual then restarted to drive 4 miles home and it never came back on. The engine is 8HS type, I understood the 1.4 HDi had no FAP or DPF, I know the new 1.3 HDi Fiat has tht's why I would not buy it. Can anyone confirm if this engine has FAP or DPF as manual just says if light stays on or flashes go striaght to your dealer.

Seems the 1.4hdi 8HX on the 206 and 307 has no FAP ,but by going by French websites they have increased the torque in the 1.4hdi 8HS and put in a FAP but i can see no mention of a DMF but thats little comfort to you at the minute i`m afraid ,
must admit when i bought my 407 the salesman didn`t know or didn`t want to mention the FAP and DMF. |

I dont know if this of any help but one of our drivers at work has the bipa HDi (auto!!). He used to suffer with the warniong light and yes it appears it does have a FAP. He has had the van from new a few years back and as a courier he has covered 145000 and it is still going strong. All i would say is depite the main dealers inclination to fob you off you do have to push them and push them harder.
(if this is of no help please ignore but thought it may be of some comfort that they do last and are a cracking van.. )

I rang service dept at Perrys Blackburn who supplied it new 5 days ago, gave them last 8 digits from VIN Code and they said only CAT no DPF or FAP.
I also did same check with local dealer Rustys at Scunthorpe where it will go for check and service in future and they also said only CAT no DPF or FAP. Both dealers said any of the engine sensors could cause the warning light to come on, took it out today with no problem. I have searched under bonnet and in back to see if a topup tank for fluid used for FAP but can't find anything, nice to hear your mates covered all that mileage, mine should last a life time as I have not exceeded 1,200 miles a year in last 3 years. I just hope and pray these dealers are right or it's going up for sale. |

It will be fine. Sheesh with that mileage it was last forever.
I have learnt (not a lot). but so many codes show a major problem but so many times it is a sensor failing at fault. All the best. |
