Default Feels like my brakes lock on while driving

Hi, ive got a 206 and yesterday when i was driving i started to slow deown to take a corner and it felt like my brakes locked on and the car screamed to a hault and would not move! I then tried to put the hand brake on and it wouldnt pull up the only thing i could do to get the brakes to release was reverse the car the back end raised up high then there was a clunk and the lock released thought this may of been a one off but it then happened again, just wondered if anyone has had this happene as dont want to take it too the garage and they say its this that and the other get it fixed and its not solved the problem as ive had this happene to me in the past. thanks, ( sorry not long been a member so hope if gone about this right lol)

Sounds as if your rear shoes may have fallen apart, I am of course assuming that you have rear drum brakes?

Thank you for the reply. yeah ive got drum back breaks, someone said to me it could be something to do with the handbreak cable being filled with water and freezing as it was frosty yesterday morning. Do you know how i would know if it is the drums?
