I have a 306 LX Turbo Diesel 1999 model. It drives fast and light a bit like an XSI.
The steering column was making a slight clicking noise when I turned it. Now when I turn sharp right or left there is a clicking noisy sound and can't tell where it's coming from other than the front of the car and it's not directly from the steering column. It only does it on a sharp turn, not when driving straight and not usually driving slowly. It does this turning left and right. There were also vibrations at several speeds - not very bad. I had the front wheels balanced and all the vibrations went except at 80mph. At least one of the tyres are unevenly worn. They are old though. It feels a bit like the car is going to pop when driving at 80mph. Below 80mph it drives fine. It's a fast car and should feel comfortable at 90mph. what could this be? Its impossible to diagnose a noise without hearing it. Get a garage to check it out on the ramp. It should be obvious.
