How much for 5L of oil for my 407 1.6HDI 110 diesel? I think it needs 5W40 fully synthetic.

Plenty to choose from

5w-40 engine oil | 5w40 oil

Out of those, the best ones are the Fuchs/Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS, Motul 300V, Redline and Gulf Competition. The Motul 8100 X-Cess, Millers XFS, Fuchs Supersyn, Shell Helix and Mobil Super 3000 are good, cheaper alternatives.

You pay the members prices on the site.

Cheers

My car only uses 4.5 litres and never uses a drop of it till next service....where i will need another 4.5 litres....i feel this is a red herring offer for me as i will collect top up litres in the shed that i do not use....cant you just put the 5l bottles on sale instead of offering an extra litre that isn't gonna get used....im not knocking the offer(looking at it the price seems quite reasonable) some guys here will probably get a bargain....just not me....

i see your point elma...pretty pointless for a car that has less than 5L oil capacity...i personally might take advantage as my car uses 5.6L oil so that extra free 1L could save me a few bob like

Does anyone know why oil companies have switched to 4L cans now?

The only reason I can see (other than to fleece us - charge the same for 4L then an extortionate amount for that extra 1L) is that its easier to keep a 1L top-up bottle in the car rather than the full 5L can.

It's the money side of things. The cost of a 1L bottle is usually just under half to about a third of the cost of a 4L one.

This time it might not work out for you, but other times the Pro S is reduced and it doesn't work out as well for people that need over 5L. Got plenty of other offers though (the Gulf is a bargain)

Opie Oils Current Offers: Gulf Competition | Fuchs Titan Race Pro S & Pro R | Millers CFS | Castrol

Cheers
