Boxer gearbox

Hi everyone, I have just joined the forum so please be gentle

I have a Boxer 1.9 non turbo 1999 on a T plate, the gearbox is basically knackered as it crunches into every gear and leaks a bit, it has a code 20 LE21 and a characteristics BVM ML5T.

I have been on find a part and a few dealers have come back to me with boxes from vehicles which are identical models (270 SWB) with the XUD engine, the gearboxes they are offering have codes starting 20 KE and slightly different characteristics code.
My question is will these fit or do the codes have to be identical?
