Default adding more additive before message "additive level low"

quick question. i am thinking about adding more additive (before message "additive level low") to the eolys tank. common knowledge is to reset the counters in the planet. has anyone tried topping up this way without resetting counters? reason i ask is because of the need to do it at all. will the system not inject reminder of additive after top up without displaying low level? i mean what triggers the message "additive low" in the first place? surely it can not be counting how many times it has injected how many grams etc to know when to display it?? i am hoping that there is some kind of threshold when reached triggers the message. let me know if anyone tried this. also i am seriously considering doing it this way. please advise me on that so i dont do something stupid

There is no level indicator in the eloys tank , when the counters are reset, it counts how many times the fuel cap is open against the total additive that is meant to be in the tank , so topping it up is pointless unless you tell the car you done it , the message will come on even if you have a full tank of eloys.

cant quite get my head wrapped around it because my cap sensor was knackered (dont know for how long) therefore the ecu would not recieve the signal that it was open/closed (circut open always) yet the additive was being injected and regens were taking place every 600~km on average(seen in planet). should this indicate anything? at the end of the day if i top it up this way and the message comes on the only thing left to do will be to reset the counters but then when you topped yours up did you fill it up full or just 3 litre kit? heard the tank is 5 llitres so that would mean after using up your 3 litres it then would be dry yet message would not appear??

haha nice one

but you know what i mean though? just seems strange there wouldn`t be secondary system in place to tell us the additive needs a top up. apart from the bleeding cap i will just have to try it and see how far i get

This whole jibba jabba wouldn't by any chance be affected by a non-working fuel gauge would it?

Doubt it , but heard one time that a fuel gauge fault caused the filter to block and blow up a engine.
