Hi there,
I seem to have a leak when I put water in the water reservoir for the windscreen wash in my 307. It doesn't leak immidiately, I can use it after a few minutes and the jets seem to work? but after an hour or so its empty? I'm a novice at this kind of stuff but any help is much appreciated as I do not know where to start

fill the tank with water....open bonnet and look for any drips, leaks. look under car for any puddles... once you have a general location, you can then narrow down the part.

I had exactly the same problem. Mine turned out to be a small split in the washer pump but it could also be a leaky pipe or a split in the bottle. To gain access to the washer pump, bottle and pipes follow the below:
-Jack up drivers side front wheel and place on stand (just to be safe) -Remove wheel. -Remove clips which retain the wheel arch lining. Just push the inner part of the clip in slightly and that should free it up. Really easy with a small screwdriver or such like. -Remove the arch lining. You can get away with just the front half but it's a bit of a squeeze. -You should now be able to see the pump and bottle. The pump will have two pipes leading from it, one for front, one for rear. At this stage I'd dry everything off with an old rag and then fill the water bottle up. Leave it a little while and see what happens. If there's no sign of a leak run the front and rear washers to see if that makes the leak a bit more obvious. The pump and bottle are really easy to replace, grab youself a haynes manual (or download the one on the forum), it's well detailed in there. They're also quite cheap to pick up (fleabay etc) but have a good look at the one you're replacing before you order a new one. Good luck. |
