Default Window Tints

Right then as you know im keeping the 407 for awhile and quite fancy having the rear 3 window's tinted BUT ive never looked through one from the inside out, so are they as dark looking out as they are looking in??

How dark should i go ie: limo black or not???

Has anyone had this done before and whats the process and approx cost??

Any horror stories???

what's your experiences wth them??

And Any recommendations in the Newcastle/Sunderland area's of the north-east

Neil

Dont tint the front windscreen or the front windows or you will run into problems with the police.

All traffic cars now carry a device called Tintman which monitors the amount of light that is let through tinted windows. They target anyone with heavily tinted glass forward of the rear seats.

If they have you, they will do one or more of:
Fine you, force you to remove the tints at the roadside, impound your car, force you to get the car checked at an MOT station.

If you are tinting the front glass, stick to a very light tint. Behind the drivers seat you can safely go as dark as you like.

My SW windows get progressively darker until they hit Limo black on the rear screen. It all looks OK but I would not want the Limo on the fronts even if it were allowed as it does reduce visibility when it's dark. That aint really a problem for rearward vision as I also have two door mirrors. It would be a problem on the front glass at junctions though

hi, i was looking at getting my 307 tinted, there is a place called NE Tints near heworth who were willing to it for £110, comes with pro fitting (they do buildings aswell) and a lifetime guarentee. i was going to get smoke black, which is the middle one between limo and the light one.

it will be darker looking from the inside out. but not as dark as looking in. i was going to get it, ready for summer weather so it is cooler in the car and apparently makes the job easier for the auto climate controls on some cars.

in my personal opinion i would leave to a pro, unless you have a wind and dust free enviroment, as if you get it wrong you can see the dust and bubbles makes it look even worse. and its a one go shot, i tried had to tear the whole lot off and it left a glue behind which was a bit of a pain to get off. but if you get it done pro like from the guys above they guarentee their work so if it does wear over time and that they will redo it for you.

just remembered aswell, if you have any scratches on your glass, i wouldnt bother, the tint will really show them off and you can see them from miles off.

as what charlie says above, the law states no tint can be placed on the windows infront of the b pillar, if tint is located there it has to allow 70% of light through - tested by MOT stations, and more specifically the police...just watch a series of any police tv program "roadwars" and they pull people over and tell them to remove it at the roadside or have the car impounded etc.

As said, don't tint the front, I had this on my old 106 and although they were legal I got pulled all the time

Rears I would say just a fairly moderate tint, nothing extreme, but it's up to you really.
