ok brought a 307 2.0 hdi 2002 only 57 on the clock,
got the car which is mint condition for 1100, had it in the garage to fit a turbo pipe and a regen on the fap, sadly the anti pollution fault is back and its in limp mode, cost 200 for this in garage, now sadly with that fault comes a quite bad ticking noise really from engine, its sounding like its the cambelt side and is there on idle and increases with revs, on top of that, had an issue selecting gears for a minute or 2 and car lets a little sqeal on turning off, is this flywheel and clutch related? and could that be the ticking, but i'm hearing the noise travelling through the block? basically it needs a sevice, done by me thats 50-70 quid, cambelt just to be safe, 80 done by me, new fap 150 done by me, then another go on diagnostics to re set ecu faults etc, but if its flywheel and clutch thats behond me and guess 600 quid etc, would you carry on and get it fixed or throw in the towel and get what you can? and do these noises tend to point to flywheel etc? |

if the DPF/FAP is deffo causing trouble and needs replacing, follow scotcruz' guide on de-fapping. Take the lot off for under £100.
Erm, deffo get cambelt done IF you're going to keep the motor. Service would help a lot really. could it be the main bearing causing the ticking? Have you checked the oil level as it can sound quite throaty without oil in. If the DMF is going you'll feel a juddering when you pull away. listen for the squeak when you release the clutch too. If it is the DMF I'd recommend 100% that you get a solid conversion. look for the valeo 4p replacement kit for £280 maximum price, and labour cost me £120 but if you pay less than £250 you're on an awesome deal! Unfortunately the garage that did my clutch are no longer in business! gutted. I'll never get that good a deal again

oil is ok if anyhting a little to much, oil is jet black and quite thick so will do a service with 5-30 when issues are sorted, i can get the fap off flea bay brand new for 150
and guess have ecu wiped again and fingers crossed then if all's well replace everything else, no judders or noises from pedal just a quick quirp when engine gets turned off. |

Don't worry about it then.
Just listen for a squealing when you are releasing the clutch to go into motion, and then it'll develop into a judder, then you need it replacing within a few months.

local dpf guy is coming round at a cost of 250 to make my car shut the fook up about anti pollution, so thats that, i have to take fap off and gut it and he will do remap/software side etc.
as for cambelt its going in garage tomorrow to locate and diagnose the noise, but will take all actions from there advice if its broken rocker or hydrolic tappets etc, i'll burn the dam car! |
