in my car....well i have the ignition warning light on the car!

replaced the battery with heavy duty bosch - £115
replaced the alternator - £126
hoddy's fitting the alternator - £30
hoddy's attempting to diagnose why light still on - £5

total cost so far for a poxy light - £276

me being pissed off as after all that, it turns out to be a wire costing less then a tenner that i can fit myself and not needing to replace the above - priceless.

I fixed the front nearside indicator - I thought the bulb had gone, but it turned out that the contact on the bulb carrier had burnt/worn out. A strip of metal from a beer tin (alcohol free, honest guv!) soon made a nice replacement contact. Works fine now.

i had the same as you alloydog at one point. suffered from a fast indictor (intermittant) went to replace the affected bulb and found a melted contact. went to the dealer and bought a revised holder for £4 iirc. but your method is just as good and free there is also a mod (bettyswollocks i think) knows the juicy details
