Default warning light

Hi all.I have a peugeot 307, 51 plate. coming home today.on the dashboard computer,a red light came up with a car,and skid marks around it.but hasnt gone off,can anyone tell me what this means.
Getting very paranoid.would like some idea of what it is before I go to the garage.

Thankyou for your reply.
I only bought the car less than a year ago.I was told had new brake discs etc done, when issued with full mot.Yes I do notice a difference when braking.I have to slow down sooner rather than later.its hard to explain what they feel like when pressed.but I feel I have to push right to floor, and they screech.I did feel the discs, and they are slightly under the rim.so I was guessing need new brakes maybe. The ABS light hasnt appeared just the one I mentioned.
Ive been looking on ebay at new discs and pads.but the seller asks me are they 4 holes or 6 holes.like I know im a woman.thought be cheaper to buy new online, and get them fitted.

You`re only looking for pads ,should be around £25 ,discs should be ok unless you`ve been metal to metal for some time ,any back street garage will be able to do it ,get quote first £60 - £80 fitted or £30 -£50 labour and you getting pads yourself.

Show of a bit when you leave the car in and ask them to be careful of the abs sensors don`t knock them when changing discs ,might let them think you know what you`re talking about.
