Hi guys. I've seen endless amounts of arguments and threads about high octane fuel and standard.
Now i know its stupid to ask this but its just something that i would love a definate answer to to shut my mates up who think their little 1.0 litre soap boxes go SO MUCH quick by putting superunleaded in their tank. I have an 's' Reg Peugeot 306 1.4 ...Not the fastest of cars i will admit! i was wondering if apart from the 'internal cleaning properties' and 'extra MPG' the garages boast about on the forecourt ...Would my ECU actually notice a difference? or is it completely pointless buying super unleaded? Some of you will think i'm stupid for asking as you've probably heard it time and time again .. but i'm just curious! Any help, much appreciated!

If you were driving a high tuned larger engine then yes , but a 1.4 the only thing you`re doing is wasting money.
The above is my opinion , others may want to disagree (but they would be wrong) ![]()

Haha thanks mate
i would agree with you as i didnt feel a difference when i tried it for myself. i ran it to nearly empty and put a tenner in and felt no differenceI told my mates that its inside their head and that they just think theyre going faster because they put the jungle juice in at the petrol station!! So its only any good for cars that are mapped up for it i guess? my boss goes out of his way to fill up with shell v-power and wont have anything different! is that abit excessive? Thanks again buddy

Something like 2.0l Gti or bigger would find a small improvement.

Yes, in my 2.2 is a little improvement whit high octane fuel. I think is better improvement if the power of the car is over 200 HP.
