Thumbs up Top Gear 308 review.

Just thought I'd share a couple of snippets!

Mission. Accomplished.

From laughing stock to Golf competitor in one fell swoop...behold the new 308.

The shock horror news is that not only has the facelift made the 308 better looking, but it's part of a product offensive (RCZ,508) that's in danger of turning the French manufacturer into a desirable brand once again.

Pay £35 a year in tax, and go for the manual, then. (1.6 E-HDI) And really do. The 308 with the e-HDI now stands up as an interesting alternative to much more regular stuff, like the VW Golf. This is an odd feeling, but getting more regular - recommending a Peugeot.

The Verdict: Less ugly 308 with brilliant stop/start. Makes a decent alternative to the Golf. (Taken from Top Gear Magazine June 2011)

Praise indeed.

Peugeot always reminds me of those really good looking girls you meet in the pub , but when they open their mouth to speak they are as thick as fluck.
Yes call me a male chauvinist pig

Like an Armoy girl! 'Hey gorgeous! Fancy a drink?'
'Oh aye big lad! Al hay anoller pint o stout an a double vodkay!'

The thing I don't understand about Top Gear is they like Alfas but not Pugs.
Good looking? Check. Drive well? Check. Characture? Check. Reliability issues? Check! What's the problem?

Just seen a pic of the new 308 and i gotta say i quite like it!

Bout time peugeot sorted out front end looks, hated the original 308

Saying that i hated the front end of 307's at first, then ended up buying one!

I'm guessing this is Top gear magazine as opposed to the programme which only reviews supercars?

A shame they can't bring the TV show back down to earth and spend less on silly stunts so it can have a longer run than 6 weeks on the telly.

I'm with you on that one. I hated the 307 too and then bought one. Then I hated the facelift so I bought one of those too! Still haven't warmed to the original 308 though. Like the new one.

Yeah the magazine can be fairly sensible. The problem with the old program is only car people watched it. 5th gear is better for proper car tests. Sort of.

I used to like "Driven" on C4, that was a pretty good programme.

Does anyone watch "Wheeler Dealers" on Discovery?

Aye, I watch that gibbo, love that programme! There's still loads more cars they could do too. Roll on the next series!

Mike Brewer's a dick though. Did anyone see his war weapons program? His face when he realised how close he was to getting shot down in that chinook...
