ticking aNd smoke

hi guys i no its not a pug but its the mrs car not my 307 just need some advice she took her astra sxi 1.6 16v for the test today and when they were doing the emmisions the car was smokeing really bad from the exhaust(blue smoke) so he failed it also when the car gets warm the engine has a really loud ticking sound coming from the engine but only when its hot/warm any ideas what could be causing these probs cheers guys

Blue smoke normally signifies burning oil
