Default Spark plug broken off in the engine

Hi
Peugot 406 1998
I must have tightened the spark plug too tightly when I last put them in. . It was in there tight enough. I removed the spark plug just to look at it (engine had been mis-firing). I didn't notice any damage but when I went to put it back in, I started to tighten it (not very tight) and it went all loose. I took the extension part of the tool out to look at the spark plug again and saw that I only had part of the spark plug. It snapped off just below the washer / hex bit, just where the threads start. So the threads are still stuck on the engine...... any ideas?? Am I screwed??

Depends on the sparkplug where its snapped is there just flat steel or is it hollow you could drill a hole a use an bolt extractor depends on depth as well .

No flat steel. It's hollow. I can see all the way to the end part (the little bar that's bent over). It is attached to the threads that are still stuck in there. If that makes sense.

Thats ok you can use bolt extractor how deep is it in ?
You might get very small shards of steel when it bites may need extendable magnet good quality one not one where the end falls out to extract any shards .

It's all the way. I was just starting to apply a little pressure (not much) when the resistance stopped. That's why I think it must have already been cracked.

what i mean is how far down to the broken sparkplug some cars are really deep in some you can screw in by hand to start if its really deep you will have to find a long bolt extractor the right size to fit the sparkplug hollow and bite.

Ah sorry, I misunderstood. It's about 6 inches down.
