Default Sir Ranulph...Peugeot?

Been using the 107 in the snow and it acquitted itself well. Light weight, skinny tyres, benign power delivery all make it a surprisingly adept little move.

Now we've had some real snow I've unleashed the 3008, and the damn thing munches it's way though the snow like it's not there, and handles the compacted ice with grippy stability and aplomb.

Meanwhile, all the smug Jag, Merc and Bimmer owners can't hack it. Anyone else find it gratifyingly smug to see some red-braces wearing estate agent looking forlorn in a stuck 3 series while you trundle past and relentlessly onwards in your common as muck pug?

Passed a BMW owner today ,it wasn`t hard he was at the back wheels with a shovel.

Saying that i did take my alloys off when i got home and put a smaller set of steels on,so i don`t end up eating my words.

I have a new 3 series (and an 07 Pug 307SW)

BM's are shite beyond belief in snow and ice, they drift the back end with no warning whatsoever and struggle for traction even with the boot full of gear.

However...... once this slippy stuff goes, they come back into their own,

They have pin sharp handling (and performance), will turn round in almost their own length cos of the huge amount of steering lock given due to rear wheel drive. They also have looks and a kudos that the french cars can only dream of.

So gloat away...for now. But once this next couple of months is gone - they will be back shoving in at the front of all the queues and overtaking you in stoopid places as normal again

Where can I buy red braces ??

Having owned a proper BMW (E65 7 series), and suffered a bit of unreliabilty with it too, not to mention the jaw dropping runnings costs, as pleasant as it was I think I'll still gloat a bit when the snow melts.
