Hello All, 1st post so please be gentle with me!
I am in the process of buying a 407 sw without any service history. The car has passed hpi checks and is a straight car. I just want a copy of the service history. Peugeot uk gave me the 1st dealership name but couldnt tell me anymore info. The dealership in south Wales never serviced the car. The lloyds/tsb lease people will not give me details of where they serviced the car. Any help would be appreciated. |

You're buggered. If you don't know where it was serviced, then you don't know who to ask.
The good news is that most lease firms are contractually obliged as part of the package to service the car, and they often include a letter confirming this. The bad news is that times are tight, and even when they were good lease firms would often skimp on servicing towards the end of a cars life on the fleet, so it's not unusual to only have an oil and filter change when it should've had a major service, for example. Personally, I wouldn't touch it, and even if I did I wouldn't pay market value and I'd have the RAC pull it to pieces before I signed.

Peugeot can only supply details of warranty work and recalls carried out by themselves, if you provide a vin Number any dealer can provide this and it covers only upto 5 years.
you have to ask nicely for the S.A.G.A.I. incidents database. The MOT history can be traced on the dvla website for the last 5 years, it'll include all the failures and advisories. you'll need access to the log book or details from the last Mot, other than approaching the garage that serviced the car that's all you can do. i bought an ex lease car, usual one key only and nothing but the last MOT. for some reason lease companies often retain the service history and one key at their head office. |

I haven't come across this with the ex-lease ex-company cars I've bought - my 407 now is ex-lease, and came with all the handbooks, service history book, second key, etc, etc. My 306 before that came with just the same. I haven't worried about buying an ex-lease car, generally they've been serviced as expected, and to a good level, often more than required - mine is all at Peugeot dealer, and little signs like good quality tyres will show that things haven't been skimped on really.

They don't skimp on tyres, cos the sort of people that have these as company carsd are usually ar5eholes and raise merry hell if Nang Tang Woosongs go on, so anything visible tends to be done properly. Same with brake pads if the calipers can be seen through the alloys - they moan like feck if they see the Apec logo instead of Peugeot, or Vauxhall or whoever.
Trust me, having worked for a dealer owned by the countries then largest car lease firm that you're lucky if the last service before coming off the fleet is even an oil and filter change, and substituting a C service of an O is very common.

Going to name the lease company by any chance...
Mine was from Ald Automotive, Bristol and had been serviced by Charters Peugeot in Maidenhead... hopefully nothing to do with the company you've worked for At the end of the day, you just don't know, so can only hope it has had what the book says |

Dial Contracts, who at the time were in turn owned by Barclays bank (not sure if they still are, or even if they still exist).
