hello all ive got a 307 hdi but looking to get a second car for the mrs and kids so need somthing mid size got about a grand to spend can you recommend anything thats going to be cheap to run and reliable ta lee

get a ford focus mk1, they are about that price now and pretty reliable.
i have a mk2 focus and cant complain really, well apart from the AC going tits atm....but im getting that fixed by ford for free! if things do go wrong, parts are keep and last loads. other than that for a grand, you could look at a high mileage 206 or even another 307

306 with the 90bhp HDI engine... had 2 of them, and both really good cars. You should get one for £1000 depending on what mileage you will accept.

Astra MKIV - not exactly exciting, but they define the word "indestructible". Britains toughest Police car in it's heydey.
More neutral handling in the wet than a Fucarse too. You should get a very decent one for a grand.
