Default Reading data

Hello everybody,

You may find this question a bit silly but I am curious about answers and where it goes.

I have a Peugeot 2003 model 307 SW. I want to build some projects on 307's electronics. I don't know if anybody else has already tried this but I just want to read some data from the bsi of the car, i.e. current speed, current rpm. I don't know if I am even allowed to do it. Could you please shed some light to me?

Thank you.

Here is an example.
As you know, there is a property in some cars that after certain speed, doors are locked. I don't have this property in my car. If somehow can read the current speed from BSI, I can easily implement an application to do so. This is just an example and I have another ideas that can be implemented if I can read some data from BSI like speed, RPM and so on.

On my 407 there is a button on my dash that changes the locking procedure , and yes you can read live data through the parameters on different ecu`s in the car giving you all the info you need.

Could you please give me more info in detail? What kind of interfaces, tools or circuits I need? Where should I start?

I googled it and encountered with this sentence. Is it important for me because I have 307 SW. Can you comment on it?

It compatible with most Peugeot cars from 1995,but it can not work good with Peugeot 307.

I appreciate your helps betty.

As far as I understood, I always need to have a laptop in the car in order to read data from Lexia 3. I am aiming to read data via a microcontroller. Do you think my idea is way impractical?
