Default Please help

Hello, im in a bit of a situation!!!
I have a peugeot 406 hdi model, year 2000.
Thing is I need to put a new ignition barrell and key into it, (including transponder, wiring etc..) up as far as the ecu I believe?
My main concern being is that if I get a replacement ignition barrell, swtich, transponder etc... from another peugeot 406 hdi of the same year.
Will this in turn hook up to my car without any problems, and will it register with its ecu???
Or will my ecu need to br programmed by a peugeot dealer to regonize the new key and barrell once installed of course???
If anyone has any suggestions please help, as I am finding it hard to obtain information on this matter. Thanks

If you want to programmed only the key, you don't need to programmed the ECU.

If you need to change the engine ecu you will need to get a doner engine ecu and matching bsi from the scrapped car (same part numbers) and also get the vin number from that scrapped car...swap out engine ecu and bsi reprogram keys (with transponer code taken from doner vin number) you should be good to go...
betty will sort you out with the transponder code...

ok ,thanks. il try and keep this simple:
I am putting a new key (well second hand from scrapped car) and ignition barrell into a 406, will the ecu need to be changed or programmed in anyway???
People are talking to me about transponder codes???
Whats the story there like?

If thats the case all you have to do is reprogram your doner key(s)..
To do this you will need...
1)Peugeot planet or equivalent diagnostic equipment
2)The 4 digit transponder code (taken from vin number) to reprogram the
key(s)
Peugeot normally charge £20 (€30) for this code...Betty does it for a fiver..
Here's a list of planet owners who maybe able to help you out..
