car is saying overheating and going into the red although the radiator does nor feel overly warm.thermostat is working,and the fan seems to be working,as it comes on when the needle reaches the red.does anyone have any idea what my problem could be. any help or suggestions much appreciated.thanks

Faulty temp gauge? Believe the gauge is independent to the thermostat.

I dont know if this is any use to you as you dont say what size Engine or year?
