Default peugeot losing power

hi, posted recently about peugeot 406 hdi losing power, seems to only do it at 3000 revs plus and up hill, just feels like she hits a wall and going down gears makes no difference, drives perfectly the rest of the time. Had a diagnostics done and a few fault codes came up, mechanic ran through all and said it needed a waste gate solenoid, have replaced and had reset (apologies for incorrect terminology) but has not fixed the prob, mechanic did mention fault code for fuel pump (appeared on diagnostic after replacing solenoid) he didn't think it relevant, any clues, or direction to take now really appreciated, as i don't want to replace parts that don't need replacing- could get expensive!
thanks

you would be amazed on how many previous owners "abuse" cars and get rid coz its not working as it should...so they pass it on.

as you have said your partner is doing a full service...make sure things like the air filter, oil filter, oil (correct grade) and fuel filter is changed.

he/she could go alot deeper and buy some Wynns EGR3 cleaner and use that to help rid the turbo (if fitted) and EGR of carbon build up...i used it and it worked wonders...only a tenner of the net.

you would be also amazed on what effect that has on your car

further to add, i have a funny feeling your car may have a DPF...i say may because i cant be definate. but a 20 min run down a motorway/dual carriageway at 3000 revs (3rd/4th at 70mph) will help regenerate the filter and burn off any crap build up that has....

Default peugeot losing power

thank you very much, what is DPF? Will go on dual carriageway tomorrow and give that a try. Also my lovely boyfriend (poor chap has to keep lending me his precious audi, so he can fiddle with my car, patience of a saint!) swapped MAF sensor today to rule that out but no joy. Any advice on the method with turbo cleaning product, i have no idea about this stuff-sorry
thanks for all the help so far, will keep you posted!

Default 406 gone wrong!

hi all, further to my peugeot 406 hdi 1999 losing power and much fiddling and trying out all your suggestions (did egr sray, changed fuel filter, changed MAF and wastegate solenoid) it died on me today sounded rough when i left home, like my dads diesel van, engine stop light came on then cut out, got it to crawl to the garage up the road-felt like crying (sorry to be dramatic but it seems to be taking up all my time and energy at the moment as well as those around me which is so frustrating) could it be the fuel pump? This fault code has come up in diagnostics earlier in the week? any light really appreciated,
