Hi I have a 2001 HDi 110 Peugeot 406. Not had any problems at all in the past 6 months.
Yesterday while working on another of my cars I left the radio on in my Peugeot which required me leaving the complete ignition on. A few hours later I went to start the car only for the battery to struggle to turn the engine over, my fault. At this point I did not notice any unusual lights on the dash however could not be 100% as I simply lent through the window. I pulled another charged battery and hooked it up. Car turned over fine but not has the immobiliser 'key' light on whenever I turn the ignition on. Theres no other weird things happening. That is it. I have put the battery on charge over night and will go and try to work on the car shortly. Problem is I have no electric where the car is and the only internet access I have is via my Nokia which is poor! Things I have found out and noted. First of all when I turn the ignition on I can hear a fuel pump priming. From some research I am hoping that a fresh battery and the BSi reset might solve the problem, however I cannot roll down my drivers window until I connect the battery so will have to do it and hope for the best. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks Small update. Put the battery back on and tried the BSi reset. Dont really know if it was done correctly as I am unable to put the window down even with the battery connected and the ignition on. Had my friend call up with his launch, from BBA by the way, cracking tool, and its come up with an intermittent and a permanent fault. Transponder identification not received. My friends launch needed some sort of code to try and code the key, guessing this I'll need to get from the dealers. My friend who is very good and knowlegable seems very adamant that the BSi is corrupt. Im not so sure myself. Also Ive noted that as soon as the ignition is turned on that the display says power saving mode or something to that effect and switches off. Which I am guessing is the BSi shutting it all off. My plip does nothing. |

You need to recode the key and for that you need two things ,
1. A transponder code (£5 from me or £18 from dealer) 2. Planet diagnostic machine. |

Hi got exactly the same problem on my 1999 (V) 406 110 HDi GTX Estate
Had to disconnect battery to recharge it and car hasnt started since Snap On fault code scanner showed up P1408 anti theft fault Car now at dealer to have key recoded to ecu/bsi Dealer called me today to say that the car had an immobilliser fault and that keycode was in sync with car anyway So they didnt tell me anything that i didnt know in fact i told them what was wrong lol Anyway turns out that the Dealer cant fix it as the say the car is too old for their system Any suggestions guys as i am tearing what little hair i have left out of my head. Can the immobilliser be bypassed or chipped or something I dont mind paying what its worth to get it done but i sure as hell not gonna ask the dealer to do it |

Get them to do a global test with their diagnostics and tell them to try and start the car while their diagnostics is reading the ecu`s. (not before or after but during)

if you can get someone on here with pp2000 to try it for you it will save you a few pounds , but from what your saying your car is at the dealers it won`t start and they`ve given up , is this correct ? getting them to try what i said won`t increase your bill drastically , you could even ask them first how much they would charge to try it. |

Got the car back from main dealer but nothing fixed
Sent the car to a diagnostic expert who i have used before and asked him to bypass immobilliser. He found no fault with immobilliser and after completley checking all systems concluded that there was a fault with the HP pump He says he got a reading of 78bar before cranking but the same 78bar when cranking thats why he suggests HP pump I have since had a new HP pump fitted but the car is still the same ie. wont bloody start. My mechanic is now suggesting an electrical fault as his fathers picasso hdi has a similar problem. Hopefully someone here has knowledge of whats happening here and can help Ive spent too much so far just to have her lying at the side of the road with what might be a simple fix I have everything crossed here folks |
