Hi there i have just purchased a peugeot 307 on a 51 reg drives like a dream but when slowing down for traffic lights etc you get a wiff of petrol for a few seconds never when accelerating of normal driving. I have checked all fuel lines and there is no leak or odour from engine bay.
I have read searching the internet there is a carbon canister vent which can cause this problem can anyone clarify this and how to rectify the problem. thanks |

PS teh carbon canister is under the o/s/f wing - access is by removing the o/s/f arch liner and wheel for access.

Thanks for the reply Pete so do you have to remove the canister and replace or do you simply make sure the pipes are clear and refit.
Thanks |

Lift up drivers side rear seat. Remove the black plastic cover underneath. Is there fuel around the edge of the tank unit?
If there is you need a tank unit o ring to reseal it.

You beat me to it David. I investigated and it is indeed coming from there. Bit of instant gasket to test and voila smell has gone

ok so ive still got the petrol smell and it seems to be getting worse. Ive read the ideas on here and so far all i have done is lifted the back seats, no pertol in the top of the pump. I also read on the forum something about the thermostat, the post in question mentioned that his car was running rich because it was running cool, my car runs hot (well I think it does) seems to heat up very quick and the fan cuts in as soon as i stop at a junction etc.
Planning to get it sorted asap anyone any ideas?
