hi all
i am new to this forum and hope i am posting in the right area, i am sure if i am not someone will tell me, lol. i am just about fed up with the piece of **** i bought a few months ago called a peugeot 307, i have had nothing but trouble since i bought it. the newest problem is a new clutch which has now been fitted by my local garage but now they tell me since having to do this the central locking wont work, ie my doors wont lock, with or without the key and they dont know why. i know they had to ring me for the 4 digit code when they did the clutch and they say its not that, anyone have any ideas what it could be, also whose responsibility is it that this has happened, am i liable to pay any extra costs because of this, the doors were working perfectly fine till it went into the garage any help would be much appreciated andrea

Well they would have disconnected the battery as the starter motor has to come off along with the battery and as such i would bet that the BSI requires resetting. Unless anyone knows different i would start with this . Print the following off and give it them :
Peugeot BSi reboot procedure Peugeot BSi reboot procedure Some of you will have already come across a strange problem when programming keys on 2002 onwards Bsi equipped Peugeot. This usually presents itself as a complete instrument cluster failure after the keys have been programmed when the customer comes to collect the car. BSI Unit The BSI unit is basically a computer which handles a multitude of functions such as odometer value, central locking, lights and immobiliser. Some later Bsi units are liable to corrupt their own software program if not “woken up” in a specific way after programming keys or battery disconnection. The details of this are explored thoroughly in a Peugeot TSB but I will summarise for you briefly. Procedure for Initialising the BSI after key learning 1. Disconnect the diagnostic tool. 2. Put the driver’s window down, lift the bonnet and ensure all equipment is switched off. 3. Ensure all doors are closed and remove key from the ignition. 4. Wait for 3 minutes, disconnect the vehicle battery and wait 15 seconds. 5. Reconnect the vehicle battery, wait a further 10 seconds (do not open doors.) 6. Switch on the side lights through the driver's window. 7. Switch on the ignition and check system’s functionality. 8. Hold lock button on key down for 10 seconds. 9.remove key open & close door test c entral locking system 10. Start the engine and complete the system’s check. Failure to follow this procedure could result in incorrect operation of many BSI related items.

Agreed , it worked when you gave it them so tell them to ring you when it all works as it did , no ifs or buts. Do not pay anything over and above the price quoted for the clutch!

The electrics are again more than likely down to the BSI needing resetting.
The reverse problem is down to them not aligning the gear lever to the selector on the gear box , basic things im afraid it seems you have chosen to pick a set of amateurs to fit you a clutch ![]() I would tell them to get it sorted or speak to your local trading standards if they dont rectify the problem!

Gear linkage on wrong ,
aerial out of radio , didn`t take of battery , touched the ECU with something, reconfigured wrongly, jump started car, bad earth on gearbox, and as above BSI reset needed, take your pick but i would be causing a stink by now , cowboys.

as all the of the users have said...take it back its their responsablity as it went in working and came out faulty.
dont know what they have done but they have done something really wrong. i took my car to a garage for the clutch...got it back less then 2 hours and it was perfect and that was £120
