Hi, just wondering if someone can help me please. I bought a Peugeot 307 3 weeks ago and I keep getting a message saying depollution system faulty. The garage have been really good and have tried to sort it everytime I've taken it back and even had a Peugeot specialist in. The last time I took It the guy said that they have replaced every part that the diagnostics machine has told them to and the next step if the light comes on is to fit a completely new depollution system. Next day the light came back on so I phoned again and they said leave it with us and we'll get back to you. A week passed and I heard nothing so i rang back yesterday. I spoke to a guy I'd never spoken to before and asked if the light was still on which it isn't but he said if the light isn't on anymore then the machine wouldn't pick up a fault, is this true or is he trying to fob me off?? He asked how much diesel I put in a time and if I have taken it on motorway as sometimes it just needs a good run. I feel like he is just trying to get out of repairing it as it will no doubt be a costly job. Can anyone help please and sorry for the essay

This subject has been discussed to death on the forum..... use a SEARCH and you will find more than enough info to keep you reading for hours.

My question wasn't about the depollution system though I was just giving background. I asked if a diagnostics machine would still pick up a fault if the engine light wasn't on

It could be something simple like a loose connection on the MAF sensor, it could be EGR valve, it could even be an injector issue. But you won't know until its diagnosed properly. I'd like to know more about the "Peugeot specialist" and if he uses PP.

I have just spoken to the garage and told them that I'm not happy with what this man told me last week. I don't know a lot About cars but I know enough to know when it's not driving right. Come to think of it as well, a few months back I took my previous car into the garage but by the time i got to the garage the light and had gone off but even the mechanic there said
Just because the light isn't on it doesn't mean the fault isn't there. It's booked in now for thursday so let's see what happens . Thanks again for your help |
