Hi
The Mrs tells me this morning that one of the rear fog lights on my Pug 307sw (2006) isn't working. I go out and check and sure enough the near side fog light isn't lit (all other lights are ok and the off-side is also fine). No worries says I, I'll just change the bulb. So took off the light cluster and I find that an LED bulb is fitted in the fog slot (first I've ever seen). Not having a stuck of LED bulbs I decided to change the bulb for a standard old fashioned 12w bulb and checked it to see if now worked. No luck. I changed the bulb over with the other side of the car and the bulb is fine (so was the LED one for that matter). So next I got the multi-meter out and first checked the rear light cluster curcuit out for continuity - all ok. Then I checked the power supply to the multi-pin plug and got 9v???? on the pin supplying the fog light bulb and up to 14v on some of the other pins. Has anyone got any idea what the heck is going on here! ![]() Cheers RH |

Isn't there only ever one rear foglight? And the other is a reversing light?

The 306 used to have 2 'lights' in the rear bumper, yet only the o/s was wired.... Peugeot saving a few pennies I think

I'm fairly certain that one is the fog, and the symmetrical equivalent is reversing light

As Homer Simpson would say ...... Doh!
Many thanks for pointing out what is now the absolutely obvious! How dumb do I feel! Any way thanks Jazz and JMK you have stopped me from looking even more of a plonker going into Peugeot and asking why my second rear fog light isn't working. The thing is that from looking at the light cluster this part of the lens looks completely red and hence why would it be the reversing light? Any way I have just checked it out and you are of course absolutely right, so cheers guys much appreciated. Regards RH (just call me Rodney from now on)

Haha no worries mate! I made the mistake once when I worked at a builders yard, I said to a bloke "mate, one of your reversing lights were out" to which he laughed and replied "there is only one".
Of course you had to be there, but I felt like a berk ![]() I think the reason the lens is red (yet it lights up white when reversing) is so it doesn't look stupid in normal daylight conditions when all lights are off. If you look at an old-ish punto/fiesta/106/306 you'll see the clear lens on reversing and the red on rear fog. Only minor detail but it adds to the aesthetics
