I have decided that the best thing to do is to weld a nut onto the end of my stupid locking wheel stud.
Are there any do's and don'ts for welding on a 307???? I will disconnect the battery! Anything else??? Phil

i can think of sooooooooooooooooo many problems this may cause, might be an idea to unplug the bsi, depending on what your gonna use to weld ie: mig not gas, also remember to use the correct procedure for removing the battery

You'll probably scorch your alloy too. Better one of those removal kits like advised in on your previous thread. Drilling is better but tricky!

i had a locking nut on my 307 stuck solid in...bent 2 tire wrenches and held me and my mates body weight jumping on it.
i looked at this (welding a nut) but decided highly against it as it could cause more damage then sense to the alloy. the locking wheel nut stevo is regarding in the last post, dont work tried a whole series of these and none fitted! stupid halfords! i decided to go to a mates garage and let them rip with impact drivers, windy guns and such like...they tore it out (ended up dethreading the bolt) they took the thread from the hub bit and i fitted normal bolts, with a little copper grease. no problems since then.

I have tried welding a nut on but the outer part has now sheared off. I am now down to the solid stuff at the bottom of the stud and will try welding a nut on again tomorrow. The alloy seems to be standing up to it OK! I am welding internally on the nut (using a larger one than 17mm) and the alloys aren't in fantastic nick anyway! ![]() Phil PS I shall definitely be throwing the rest of the locking studs away and putting normal ones in |

ive heard that sacrificing a socket, smaller than the head of the bolt, and smacking it on with a hammer will remove them...but never tried it mysel

Yeah, John, but these locking nuts are different. The head isn't solid. This is the bit that I got a nut welded onto. It then just sheared off as it has very little hold on the stud. The keys only actually drive the stud at the "bottom".
I saw clips of people doing that with sockets on Youtube but those must be very different "locking studs" to these on a Peugeot. ![]() Phil |

Hopefully, last resort, will be to drill it! The wheel should then come off without having to chop it to pieces

They are possibly the worst design of wheel nut ever. Mine did something similar but the tyre place managed to get it off with hammering and a windy gun. Absolute hydralics of a thing! Over the hedge with you....
