Default Oil type for my car

Hi,

I have a Peugeot 307 SW.
When I enter my VIN number into the Peugeot Service Box, I see that my car is 307 SW 1.6 i 16v 110 BVM 5.

First time in my life, I am going to change the oil of my car in coming days. For that purpose, I have already bought a lifting kit. What I need is now to know what type of oil I need for my car. Is it 10W-40? What is your suggestion?

Thank you for your reply,

I have checked the Hallfords and also another websites. There they have only Peugeot 307, not 307 SW. 307 is 80 kW but 307 SW is 110 kW. Do you think that this is important when I choose right engine oil? Still 5W-30?

Is it petrol or diesel?

Are you sure that you aren't confusing kW with hp?

110kW is 148hp, which I haven't heard of such a powerful 1.6 engine
110hp is 82kW.... I would have thought this far more likely

Oh, my mistake. I was confusing.

It is petrol.
As I said in my first post, when I enter my VIN number into the Peugeot Service Box, I see that my car is 307 SW 1.6 i 16v 110 BVM 5.
110 means 110 hp? Are the engines the same for 307 and 307 SW?

5W-40 or 5W-30. Which one would you recommend? what are the pros and cons?
