Default No car for about 2 months, insurance and tax

Girlfriend will be without her car for about 2 months. She has just taxed the car and is paying £80 per month for insurance. Anything we can do about this, seems like a waste of money to me....

Cancel your tax and you can claim back any unused months...

Insurance might be a bit trickier though, if you are paying it monthly they should let you cancel, then when you need to use the car again you can re-insure it from the last full year of no claims earned

Thanks Stubbo, have you any idea why a timing belt would snap when it was replaced 14000 miles ago.

Poor quality replacements

Tensioner set wrong or left loose?

Could be a few reasons, is thats whats happens to the gf's car?

Spot on, getting repaired at the minute, wont be ready for 2-3 weeks, roughly £300. Selling the car after so will be a while before shes back on the road.

The timing belt snapped the last time so it maybe wasnt repaired correctly. Or maybe he never put new tensioners in the last time, dont have a clue.
