Hi folks, this one is more beneficial to the northern england folks on this forum...
basically just to let you guys know i went to get some new tires, as mine were a little short of illegal and stupid... paid a visit to "great north east tires" just of the tyne bridge, near mr clutch. for £129 i got 2 brand new Kumho Ecsta tires and full tracking and balancing done. im thinking thats awesome value for money and looking at websites those tires are really good for the mid-range value and easily compete with the likes of firestone. what do you guys reckon? also would a good garage and bad garage section on this forum be beneficial? like where people put there stories on garages, how they rate customer service, the quality of work etc. maybe even rate members on their repairs and diagnostics...(maybe not the latter). obviously these would only be the users views and not that of the forum, so its down to the user not to say anything untrue. (if that makes sense)

Mate I got Kumho Ecsta's too. Which ones did you get? I can't remember the exact ones I got but I did so much research before I got them and they are awesome. 200 quid did all round plus fitting.
And yeah, love the idea of recommended threads. Is there a way to format it so it isn't thread-like? So it's more of a vote result thing in sub-sections of region? Ie: North East England --->Hi-Q Darlington ------->Positive Votes: 10 -------> Negative Votes: 2 and then a threads bit for comments?

I've had Kumho before, not a bad tyre. Your price isn't anything too special though, generally £60ish a tyre around here for them anyway.

yeah they are Kumho Ecsta Spt (ku31)...i had them on my 307 aswell...take forever to run down...even tho they say they are no good in freezing or snow...last year i did not slide once on the snow with them. this year i was all over...but my tires were well worn then lol. by the sounds i saved around £70 as you got them for £200....but as you say might be different models
im not sure but i bet yung can answer that one. i was thinking on the lines of putting country then in county: England: -north east - county durham - tyne and wear -north west - carlise and within those names of the places, e.g England: - North east - Tyne and wear - Hoddys's recovery obviously in that thread it will say: what work was carried out How they dealt with it was the customer service good what is the quality of work in relation to labour cost overall cost if satisfied or not and why. if that makes sense.

if say someone wants to leave a comment for the same place, they dont start a new thread but rather post a new comment on the places thread (if that makes sense)

I don't really have an opinion on tyres, I buy what I can offord at the time. I found a place that was good for fitting though, Jocks Tyre Service in Leicester put 4 new tyres on my 18" alloys, balanced them, took my old alloys off & fitted the new ones, all for only £30.

I got 4 tyres fitted for £200 though
![]() I see where you're going and I like the style of it, but maybe it should go in a form filling style method, rather than threads, because you know some pratts will end up adding threads because nobody can be bothered to search. You'll notice half the new threads when you click "new posts" - they've actually only been discussed within the last couple of days yet somebody new comes in, bypasses the intro thread and doesn't even search because they think they are top priority. Don't get me wrong I've caused a few double posts, but I endeavour nowadays to search first, and I have for a blinking load of things, I just like to ask you, betty and a few others for confirmation because I have to check and check and check to make sure things are right, or I cock up.. Anyway that's my ramble.

your right in saying that new users just turn up and ask questions that have already been answered before hand... i find the more common excuse is:
"i have seen other threads, but mine is slightly different" you cant stop this problem as new users just join and ask away, to be fair though they are more than likely stressed about their car not working etc etc and want to get it fixed asap, without the who har of intros. i must admit i cant find an intro thread from myself... appologies. My excuse was that i was so excited to try and change my led colours...or was it because my timing belt was ruined by "aldam st motors" but yeah i see what you mean...ill ask yung, he can give definates.

If this does go ahead, we must limit to FIRST hand user experiences only (especially when it comes down to you having a bad experience with a garage). Nothing like, "my uncle had this experience with this garage and it sucked."

yeah i was saying this before if people do this they could result in a case of libel (i think) against them...im thinking moderated inputs will have to be placed...to stop/reduce this...nip it in the bud sorta thing
