Default New style MOT certificate

Had the discocab MOTd the other day which it sailed through. Anyway the MOT tester came out of office with a piece of a4 white paper and i feared the worse but it turns out the certificate is now just a piece of plain old A4 printed from a bog standard printer. No watermarks or stamps, just a piece of crappy white a4.

Who in their right mind thougt it was a good idea to change it to this as its got to be the easiest piece of paper to fraudulently change that ive ever seen which cant be good when your buying a used car in the future.

I thought the same and when the owner of the garage saw the look on my face he said that he agreed with me and that he was embarrassed at having to give them out! One good thing though is that the advisories are now part of the cert so can easily be seen.

Can easily check on a car's MOT status/history online, so the certificate is merely a formality really, and once its home, likely to never be needed or come out again

To be honest the cert has no value as a piece of paper it is just a receipt as insurance post office police and the like all access the database to check whether the vehicle has a current MOT.

so if you buy a new used car from now or before you buy, just double check it yourself online.

The problem of checking online is that you can't do it with any car you see on Autotrader. You need reg number AND V5 number/MOT cert number.

I tried to check the history of a motor that I couldn't be bothered to go see, and couldn't cos I didn't have that info.
