Hi all, I have been lurking around here for a while and I guess like most who join, I have a problem with my Peugeot that I need help with. Got a Peugeot 307sw se hdi 2003 with around 112,000 on the clock. Have been really pleased with this car until a couple of months ago when it started to struggle going uphills. Anyway it's due a big service and a cambelt change which I was due to have done just before christmas, until the gearbox gave up the ghost! Cost me just over a grand to get that sorted
I don't get any weird warning lights etc coming on, but when I checked the fuel consumption I am only getting 27mpg from her. True most of my driving is around town but a little low none the less. Anyone got any thoughts re this or anyone local can reccomend a decent reasonably priced mechanic that I can take it to so I can get this sorted?

First thing, fill right up, reset trip miles, run it down, and refill the tank. Then calculate the mpg the manual way - it isn't unknown for the trip computers to give false readings

Thats one thing ticked off then
It was just an easy one to make sure you weren't worrying over nothing.Mine too was surprisingly accurate when checking - within 0.5mpg

That is low return. It needs a scan for fault codes once serviced.

Thanks for the quick responses. Do you think it would be good to get the fault codes read before or after I get the service done?

I would get it serviced and then clear codes, then run it for a few miles and see what returns. These faults will be current and you can go from there.
