Default need advice please.

Hi there folks,m new to the forum and thoght i would ask for some advice, i am looking to buy a 407 hdi and would like either the 2.0/2.2/2.7 diesel, i want a bit of performance from the car and fuel consumption isnt too much of an issue but i would like to know what is the most reliable engine to go for and if there are any issuses as regards any of these engines, the last peugeot i bought was a 52 plate 1.4hdi 307 and it wasnt the best as regards electrical problems.so i am looking to move back to a 407 hdi on anything from a 06 plate to funds permitting 08 plate.... THANKS IN ADVANCE...

I understand from 2008 most problems were sorted re electricals and mechs. Many 2.0 about but don't know if the larger motors are better. The old idea was cubic capacity rules.Whatever you go for this is the place to ensure it keeps going, welcome and hope you don't need us.

Auldyin just been checking. it seems as the engine size increases so the ride handling decreases, making the 1.6 better in that department. the 3 ltr v6 is the poorest. mainly due to weight and power. So looks like the 2 ltr deisel or 1.6 are better

STERION, again thanks for the reply and advice will probably now look more at the 2 litre,i think the 1.6 may be a little under powered although that may not be the case.

its not underpowered but you would need to try one to see if it suits your style. good luck with your search, be interesting to see the new ride when you have some pics, Brad
