I think you have taken it the wrong way mate.

I mean it's not good for me if it does turn out to be that accurate, has it means mine is doing pretty poor.

I was hoping someone was going to say "don't worry they are way out" lmao

dont worry stu i knew what you meant straight away...34.9mpg is pretty poor. i get that if i have a lead foot moment. i average around 57-62 in my 1.8tdci foci. best bet is to fill her up and do a manual calculation...that should prove if its correct or not. if it is, looks like you may need to start looking at your driving technique (no cheeky/insult intended) and quite possibly something up with the car.

Cheers John for the reply.

That's the thing that's worrying me. The car drives spot on with no smoke or anything. It's only on 39k now.

I don't give it any stick mate and always put it in 4th as soon as it hits 30 even though it does seem like it's struggling and feels happier in 3rd at steady 30ish mph. Unless that's where I'm going wrong driving it like a petrol?

I will see what I get of this now this week. I have tripped it and filled it till the pump was clicking so will brim it again next week and work out what it's done

diesels have a different method to driving then petrols. you need to change the gears before 2k revs (petrol is 2.5k revs). obviously you need to keep the revs low but not to low to strain the engine, typically judders when this happens.

when was the car last fully serviced, such as oil and filter change and fuel filter change?

I did a full service on it about eight weeks ago John.

It had one when I bought the car but was worried the garage may have just chucked cheap oil in it so did another oil and filter change myself along with the air and fuel filter too.

In all fairness I do let it rev to 2.5k though mate, I will alter my driving style too then John to see if that helps it.

Thanks again for your time
