Hi there I have a 51 reg 307 and ever since ive had the car ive had a dronning sound from the front of the vehicle i was told it was the o/side driveshaft bearing so replaced the drive shaft and still the problem persists. I have taken it to a garage who cant find anything wrong and said my bearings on the wheels are fine. The noise is a deep dronning sound especialy when you slow down if i turn me steering slightly to the left it gets slightly louder and id i turn slightly right it eases off but you can still hear it.
My step father says its sounds like a dry bearing but when i was at the garage i also listened and there is no noise or play from the bearing so is it an issue that the noise only shows under pressure. has anyone else had this if so what was the answer? Thanks |

You can fit a bearing to the driveshaft without replacing the whole shaft.
Does your noise increase with speed?

needed to replace drivehsaft as cv joint was clonking so killed two birds with one stone. No it dosent seem to get louder the faster you drive more the other way when you slow down the sound gets louder and also you nitice the noise on smooth tarmac roads more than others

Swop that front tyre to the back and see if the noise moves.
