Default Jump Starting

I searched the forums on "Jump Start" and the few posts I found suggested that this is a no-no for Peugeots. This can't be true, surely? How do the AA or RAC etc start a Pug which has a flat battery?

I'd only j start a modern pug as a last resort.

Recently bought this: Car-to-Car Charger / Jump Starter : Jump Starters : Maplin Electronics

It is actually very true that jumping these is not a good idea.....However i jump started mine every morning for the best part of a month with zero ill effects....It's really just a precaution....

Thanks. That looks nifty; I'll get one the next time I'm near a Maplin store.

Can you jump start another car from a Pug? Is the direction of current flow a significant factor?

I'd avoid all jump start situations were possible.

The lead from maplins is I believe the safest option as you can't get it wrong. To add I ain't used it yet

Had to refuse a neighbour a jump start over christmas.
Looked at me like I was full of s**t as I tried to explain.
Think he thought I was just being an arse, but I didn't want to chance it.
jmkent likes this.
