Default Insurance/ Police /no help to me at all read and be warned..

Hi all,
As you may or may not know i drive an artic for a living.
So on this terrible day i went in to work as normal drove me truck out of my parking space and parked me little 206 in its place and off i went.

That afternoon i get a call from the mechanic at the yard saying my car has just been hit and he chased the bloke up the road but dont panic he said i got his details for you.
Well what happened is this a Spanish driver came into to load but was about 8 hours early so the guys told him to go and come back.
He see a space in my govners yard wich is private and drove in after a fasion next to my car, the mechanic went over told him to F off and when he backed out he took my 206 with him pushed my little car about 18 foot then tried to just drive off

What really gets mty goat is that my car was right under his window so he should have seen it anyway the security guard printed me a dvd of him wacking it the mechanic chased him and got his details the guys in the pallet yard where he was going told me he would be back at 8pm.

So i get home with my trashed 206 ring my insurance and get told i could claim but it would be off my policy as they wont chase a Spanish plate

I go to the police and tell them they said and i qoute"i will fill out a t28 form for you as he drove off but i tell you now nothing will get done"

So 2 week before xmas i have to scrap my little 206 i wont claim as this will cost me in lost no claims bonus the police will not do anything as its to much man power to make a few phone calls.
I know that some of you out there must be police and probably think what i have been told is not correct but i tell you this is what the bloke at rayleigh traffic Essex told my wife and i...

So be warned people foreign drivers can do what the hell they like on our roads because our police and insurance company's will not be bothered to do what we pay them for.........

Is this not something to do with it being on private property??

I was hit by a German on holiday here 2yrs ago, and all that went through my insurance company without problem - fully recovered all costs and no excess/NCB loss on my part.
This was an accident on the roads (police attended..... along with the rest of the services) and was without question 100% the German's fault. It took longer for the claim to go through obviously as its was involving a German insurer, however, each insurer has an agent in the UK in which our insurers deal with on their behalf.

I would kick-up a bit more with your insurance company.... police aren't really going to want to know much, but insurance could do more.

Sounds very much like a brush off from your insurance company - who are they so that we can all avoid them in the future.

The nationality of the driver is irrelevant - anyone in the UK must abide by UK laws - that means being insured.

Not sure why your insurance company think that writing to an insurance company in Spain is any different to writing to one in the UK.

i would of chased this up more, i would of wrote to the company sending a copy along with it and demanding a compensation. the spanish company will have to have insurance for driving in the UK or he is driving an Uninsured vehicle on our roads!!! and thats an offence.

chopper being in with the bizzies can probs give you loads more info and also there is a member (forgot who, sorry) who works in an insurance firm.

a similar thing though, we have to park our cars in the bus depot but all around is warnings saying we park there under our own risk, but you can still get the insurance companies involved for impact from vehicles...nothing to stop that.

its unfortunate to have this happen but atleast you replaced your car now and all much pretty sorted
