Default Insurance

Now lads.

Who's around 20 and getting decent insurance? I've got 3 years NCB and had an SP30 so it limits who will cover me.

This is just because I am definitely going to change insurance company because mine (swiftcover) are extremely cheap BUT:

£900 excess
to replace my rock-cracked windscreen is £65 of excess AND they freeze a years no claims - are they having a bubble like?

So could anybody expose a lovely little gem of an insurance company?

My resolve is to pay the extra for my cover in order to bring down the excess. Are swift the only ridiculous company to charge and freeze NCB for windscreen?

im 21, in a ford focus 1.8tdci and pay £229 a month, for 9 months and get the 3 months rest. but before i had a crash i was paying £125 a month fully comp on my 1.6 petrol 307 with all the extras. it has £50 windscreen excess if you go through them, £100 if not. and a £400 excess on insurance but that is because of age.

i rang them when i got home after passing my test, they gave me 3 years NCB just for going to them and loads of other discounts.

even when you read the above your bound to go JESUS F***ing Christ thats a lot....but its far cheaper than what i get quoted on all price comparisons and when i phoned around i basically got laughed at! so its still the cheapest. infact they gave me 1 year NCB for renewing with them :P bonus!

anyways...im with towergate riskline oxted (broker) and the actual insurance is Equity Red Star. im not too sure if towergate will help, as they tend to deal with public/government sectors, such as police and military...but no harm in asking is there. you could even say you are in air force.

i can dig the telephone number out if your interested

Swift do £79 a month on mine. Like I say I wouldn't mind paying a bit more for a less stupid policy

Cheers mate. Their site indicates they do personal insurance so should be good. I'll give them a ring. Cheers!

I've insured my 107 directly through Peugeot. Thieving scumbags wanted nearly £100 (yes, one-hundred) a year for fully comp NCB and loan car.

Is that a standard Swift cover policy - to freeze NCB for windscreen claims?
I've never heard of any insurance doing that, and mine is coming up for renewal, and Swift was looking to the best bet... may have to think twice if this is their standard policy

Edit: just looked into it, and you're spot on! can't believe they do this, definitely a first for me. Mind you, they've quoted me £450 ish fully comp for me on my 2.0hdi 407 (26, 8yrs NCB, 1 SP30 from 4yrs back). Next cheapest are almost £200 more expensive, so might be chaper in the long run to use Swift, a yrs ncb at 8yrs to 9yrs probably won't much difference.. bearing in mind I will need a new windscreen some time in the future (little chip started to crack, but hasn't changed at all in 6mths so might last )

Thats pants taking no claims off for windscreen claims. When the other half cracked the windscreen on the 307 her insurance threatened to send an assessor round to confirm that it hadn't been cracked for longer than the insurance had run, well guess what, he never came and they changed the screen any way.
Paid £60 excess job done.
Someone ran into my parents car last month a new merc 180, the bloke offered to settle cash for the claim, but my parents decided to go through the insurance. so the car went off to have it's bumper resprayed. the car was gone for 12 days!! when i saw the invoice the hire car was almost £2000!!
I think that someone is on a nice little earner at our expense. my insurance on my old golf (spare car) went up 50% last year!! no wonder why.

yeah i find that freezing for windscreen wierd...when i did mine in, i asked if it would affect my NCB (when i had it) they agent turned around and said absolutely not...so thats another positive...the only downside i can say is, it takes a few weeks for the insurance to pay out, mind you thats probably due to being on finance. the property owner still hasnt received payout due to him trying to play them off and claiming for more than there is. but that doesnt affect me.

It's my sole duty in life to ensure nobody goes with swift.

£400 compulsory excess and £500 voluntary is what they quote for. If you accept, you're paying £900 before you see anything else.

And yes, it's true, a year frozen and £65 spent for a windscreen? Really though, how much does it cost to just replace the windscreen?
