I took advantage of a fee brake check at a large national chain (no names no packdrill) and they quoted me £206 for replacement front discs and pads for my 207 Auto. Seemed a bit steep and so I rang a couple of local Peugeot dealers and asked them to quote - one said £316 and t'other £160; both said that they would only use genuine Peugeot spares. I confirmed with the first dealer that the price was for just the front discs and pads.
Can anyone give me a rational explanation for this huge disparity in pricing?

only reason i can think of is the reason unipart gave me, which is;
"some places are busier than others, the quieter places need to make a profit so they up the prices, whilst the busier places can get customers easier and make their profits easier so they drop the prices"

or exactly the opposite, the places with less work will lower the price to attract more customers while the busier places can afford themselves to raise prices to increase their profit regardless if they lose few customers because they are overbooked anyway and cant handle them all.

I would be quite sceptical that a Peuegot dealer will change the front pads & discs for £160.... knowing some of the prices for brake pads, it looks more like £160 worth of parts
![]() Just checked servicebox.... Peugeot rrp for front discs and pads on your car.... £145.... so how they can do it for £15 labour is beyond me

The discs were £62.34 + VAT, the pads £26.10 + VAT, and the labour £44.88 + VAT.

Now here's something odd. I logged into the MyPeugeot site and clicked on "service offers" and there it states that replacing front discs and pads is £215, irrespective of model!
I wonder if I got a "first time at this dealer" discount?
