Help Please

Hi, I'm new to all this stuff, so any advice would be very greatfull.
I bought a 54 plate 307 1.6 hdi about a month ago . Yesterday driving down my road the aniti polution light came on and then there was a bad hissing /gurring noise coming from the engine and burning smell. all fluid levels are ok and oil ok too. It makes more noise when you rev any ideas please.

ok I'v just been out to start my car and when i turn ignition the display says lack of oil but checked oil level this is fine and when i turn ignition key smoke comes from bottom area of the engine and whinning noise ????

when you say lack of oil does it actually say lack of oil or do you mean the squares that come up indicating oil level...if its the squares ignore it, they all do it.....as for the hissing and whining check the hoses for the turbo or the cooling system....further than this it would help if you define the location of the sounds...just so you know anti pollution light is generic for 'it's broken'....you may need it putting on planet....hth a little...

get your belts checked and replaced...especially the cambelt. if that goes you will be buying a new engine.
