Since your up to speed on most laws , will a warranty stand if a qualified peugeot mechanic using peugeot parts working from his home does the work on your/my car and fills in the book but has no stamp or will they spit out the old line of authorised dealer only?

Yes, if he's a "Competent Engineer". If he's formally qualified, served an apprenticeship, or has a demonstrable track record of spannering for reputable dealers (so there's a provable audit trail), then he's fine.
I'm Nissan HiTeqII (which is olde City and Guilds) and Vauxhall Master, do all my own servicing, keep all the receipts etc and have never had any issues at all with a Peugeot warranty claim. Some manufacturers try to push the boundaries of the legislation, but in my experience PSA are pretty straight with that sort of thing. BTW, I had my own stamp made up as well
