Default Eolys leak heeelllpppp

Hi all, I am new to the forum so a quick hello wouldn't go a miss I guess!

Hello!

Like so many, I suspect, I have a specific problem I need some help with and I am hoping for some advice, any and all will be gratefully received!

I have a 58 plate 207 GT with the 1.6 Diesel. It has been a troublesome beast for the past two years but much needed due to my high annual mileage.

It is leaking EOLYS fluid currently and I have dropped it in to the dealer today for its 60,000 service and asked them to investigate. I should say that before doing this a little research showed this to be a common problem with the bladder apparently going porous? I was hoping that they would complete the repair FOC or at least at a vastly reduced rate, this is not to be though. £296 was the initial quote and they inform me that even though Peugeot know about the fault, there will be no contribution from them towards the cost of the repair. They have since reduced this to £216 but that is still a lot IMO.

I asked to speak to the Service Manager, he is on holiday, I asked to speak to the GM, I need an appointment! I am at a loss as to what to do.....

Do I........

A) Bite the bullet and pay the £216
B) Get the parts and do the job, they say it will cost me £116.77 for the bladder and fluid?
C) Source the stuff to do the job elsewhere and do it myself.

I would dearly like to take this up with Peugeot directly as I feel it is a very poor situation to have this very expensive and carcinogenic fluid, just leaking out all over my drive! I don't have any contacts though and wouldn't really know where to start, is it even worth all the stress?

I should probably also add that I was a Technician some years ago so do know my way round a car pretty well. Family commitments lately however mean I seldom have time to get my hands dirty!

Your thoughts and advice would be very welcome.

Cheers
Simon

Thanks Nige, I am from the NE of England for any potential helpers out there and am well versed in the purchase of gratuities

Am I being unreasonable in thinking this should not have happened?

Cheers

I don't think you will be able to buy the parts from anywhere else other than the dealer

Fluid and refill kit from gsf is £84 + Vat, so see how much they want for the 'bladder'

They charged my £140 parts & labour to do mine 12mths ago, so not too bad comparing to the GSF price
