Hi i have a peugeot 407 hdi 1.6 diesel 54 plate when i accelerate and get to 3000 revs theres a slight knocking noise could it be the cam anybody help.

its not the cam belt but its either of the two..

cambelt tensioners

or

crank pulley (more likely)

In either case, change the cambelt (its only £30) since the work is being done !!

nothing to worry, it wont be a huge bill.. good luck !
