Thumbs down Electrical gremlins

Hi,
I am having problems with my wifes 406 110 hdi. I recently drove through a ford, which caused the stop red light to come on indicating engine overtemp. Temp guage was OK. This cleared after 2 days. I have just had some work done to the aircon and the problem has recurred. We have noticed that the problem goes away if the internal temp is set to 30 oC, or the aircon is turned off. Unfortunately for us our car does not communicate with the diagnostic laptop. I wondered if anyone had any ideas ?
Cheers Martin.
